    License termination

Section 8 of LGPL 2.1 says:

You may not copy, modify, sublicense, link with, or distribute the Library except as expressly provided under this License. Any attempt otherwise to copy, modify, sublicense, link with, or distribute the Library is void, and will automatically terminate your rights under this License.

Say company A would create an editor based on AvalonEdit by dynamically linking to it. They sell a license for it to company B, but they don't give B AvalonEdit's source code, nor a copy of LGPL 2.1. That means A is not in compliance with the license, so their rights with respect to AvalonEdit are, in theory, immediately terminated. In other words, they're not allowed to distribute their editor anymore, even if they do take measures to come into compliance. Only when the copyright holder(s) grant those rights back to A can they distribute their editor again.

What's AlphaSierraPapa's policy on automatic license termination?
